Prerequisites

You must be at least 17 years of age at the start of the course.

You must have all of the following:

ASA Level 1 Award in Coaching Swimming (QCF)

Description

This course leads to a vocational qualification designed for you to learn how to effectively apply your skills, knowledge and understanding of coaching swimming.

This qualification aims to provide and equip you, with the skills, knowledge, tools and techniques to effectively plan, prepare, deliver, monitor and evaluate swimming coaching sessions.

This qualification is endorsed by UKCC and sits on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)

Assessment

On successful completion of this qualification you should be able to:

Establish an effective, fair and equitable coaching swimming environment
Establish a safe coaching swimming environment
Review participants needs and establish goals for coaching sessions
Produce plans for sessions that support participants development
Plan for evaluation of sessions
Prepare participants for coaching swimming sessions
Establish and maintain working relationships with participants and others
Deliver coaching swimming sessions
Develop participants performance
Conclude coaching swimming sessions
Evaluate participants performance and effectiveness of sessions
Monitor personal coaching practices

The qualification is assessed through a variety of methods and activities in the form of observation, written evidence and/or verbal discussion. Your tutor will help you to understand the different sorts of evidence that are acceptable and appropriate, and what the methods of assessment to be used will be. Practical assessments will be conducted through observation in your natural working environment.
