ASA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Aquatics (QCF)

You must be at least 17 years of age at the start of the course.

In order to attend this qualification you must be holders of either:

o ASA UKCC L1 Award in Teaching Aquatics (QCF) - January 2011 onwards

o ASA UKCC L1 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics - 2006-2010

o L1 Certificate for Teaching Swimming post 2002

o ASA Assistant Teacher Certificate (teaching aquatics) post Sept 1994

o NCTP Module 1 and 2 & QTS status and/or HLTA

OR

Gained exemption prior to enrolment on the learning programme from the ASA

If you do not hold one of the above pre-requisites you will not be able to attend this course

It is also recommended learners hold a valid CRB Certificate

It is strongly recommended Butterfly Stroke Analysis is completed prior to completion of the qualification

If you achieved your core units only of this qualification prior to January 2011and are now looking to complete your qualification, there will be an additional registration fee for you to do this. The dates of the course are: 17^th, 18^th, 19^th, 20^th, 21^st, 22^nd, 23^rd, 24^th, 25^th, 26^th & 27th September 

The times of the course are: 9am - 6pm everyday (to be confirmed by the tutor)

All six practical sessions included in units 205-208 will be covered on this course.

Learners should please note that this Level 2 is an intensive course ran over consecutive days in a two week period, there will be fast paced learning and learners should expect homework.  However, there are some Level 2 Qualifications which are non-intensive, spread over a number of days in a month(s).  If you are unsure of which course that will suit you best please contact the IoS on 01509 640640.

Please note that there is a late booking fee applicable to learners that book on after 03.09.12.  This will be included in the course price total.

• Review participants needs and establish goals for aquatic teaching sessions
• Produce plans for sessions that support participants development
• Plan for evaluation of aquatic sessions
• Prepare participants for aquatic teaching sessions
• Establish and maintain working relationships with participants and others
• Deliver aquatic teaching sessions
• Develop participants performance
• Conclude aquatic teaching sessions
• Evaluate participants performance and effectiveness of sessions
• Monitor personal aquatic teaching practices

If you are successful in obtaining this qualification, you are eligible to seek teaching roles through employment or volunteering opportunities. You should look to develop your learning and knowledge of this discipline by working with other, more senior qualified, experienced teachers.
