Prerequisites

You must be at least 17 years of age at the start of the course.

You must have all of the following:

  • ASA Level 1 Award in Coaching Diving (QCF)

201: Understanding the FUNdamentals of coaching/teaching sport

202: Understanding how to develop participants through coaching/teaching sport

203: Supporting participants lifestyle through coaching/teaching sport

204: Understanding the principles of evaluating coaching/teaching practice

205: Plan a series of diving coaching sessions

206: Prepare the diving coaching environment

207: Deliver a series of diving coaching sessions

208: Monitor and evaluate diving coaching sessions

Details

The dates of the course are:19th, 20th, 21st October, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 23rd, 24th & 25th November 2012

The times of the course are: 6pm - 9pm on Friday evenings, 9am - 5pm on Saturdays & Sundays.

All six sessions covered in units 205-208 will be included on this course.

Please note that there is a late booking fee applicable to learners that book on after 04.10.12. This will be included in the course price total.

Description
This course leads to a vocational qualification designed for you to learn how to effectively apply your skills, knowledge and understanding of coaching diving.
 
This qualification aims to provide and equip you, with the skills, knowledge, tools and techniques to effectively plan, prepare, deliver, monitor and evaluate diving coaching sessions.
 
This qualification is endorsed by UKCC and sits on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)
Assessment
On successful completion of this qualification you should be able to:
  • Establish an effective, fair and equitable diving coaching environment
  • Establish a safe diving coaching environment
  • Review divers needs and establish goals for diving coaching sessions
  • Produce plans for sessions that support divers development
  • Plan for evaluation of diving coaching sessions
  • Prepare divers for diving coaching sessions
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with divers and others
  • Deliver diving coaching sessions
  • Develop divers performance
  • Conclude diving coaching sessions
  • Evaluate divers performance and effectiveness of sessions
  • Monitor personal diving coaching practices
 
The qualification is assessed through a variety of methods and activities in the form of observation, written evidence and/or verbal discussion.  Your tutor will help you to understand the different sorts of evidence that are acceptable and appropriate, and what the methods of assessment to be used will be. 
 
Practical assessments will be conducted through observation in your natural working environment.

If you are successful in obtaining this qualification, you are eligible to seek coaching roles through employment or volunteering opportunities. You should look to develop your learning and knowledge of this discipline by working with other, more senior qualified, experienced, licensed coaches.
