You must be at least 16 years of age at the start of the course.

There are no formal pre-requisites for this seminar however it's content assumes a level of knowledge which someone holding a Level 2 swimming teacher qualfication would have. Also school swimming teachers or volunteers who have completed the national curriculum seminars may also have sufficient pre-knowledge. Time of seminar: 9.30am to 12.30pm 

This is a blend of theory and practical. On the day,you will need to take with you
• Swimwear (learners may be required to enter the water)
• Appropriate poolside clothing & classroom clothing (please refrain from wearing any staff uniform)
• Non slip poolside shoes

All learners must be booked on by the closing date 11.7.2018. Any bookings made after will incur a late booking fee and no learners will be accepted 48 hours prior to the seminar starting.


The seminar is a perfect introduction to the sport of diving and is suitable for teachers with no previous diving experience and has been created to support Swimming Teachers and/or Diving Coaches to deliver the ASA Aquatic Skills Framework Stages 8-10 Diving.

Content includes:

·         An introduction to the ASA Learn to Swim and Aquatic Skills Frameworks

·         An introduction to the sport of diving including basic posture, take-offs and shapes

·         Health & Safety requirements related to teaching diving

·         The skills contained within the framework and teaching points

·         Common faults and their corrections

·         A practical peer-taught pool session of the skills contained in the framework

You will receive the folowing resources:

·         A set of A4 splash-proof activity cards showing each of the skills and main teaching points

·         Access to an online portal containing a video resource with a clip of each skill

·         A downloadable Teacher Guide which includes an example scheme of work and 6 example session plans       


This seminar is 3 hours long

This seminar incorporates theory and pool based sessions
