You must be at least 13 years of age at the start of the course.

There are no formal pre-requisites for this workshop, the workshop is designed for people aged 13 - 16.

Requirement for attending the workshop

Learners who are booking onto this workshop who have not been given a voucher code by the organiser must download and complete the Emergency Contact Information & Duty of Care documents in the ‘Resources’ section once they have booked on. These documents must be completed and returned to the IoS at least 1 week prior to the workshop taking place. You will not be able to attend this workshop until the IoS have received these completed documents. Attendance at a workshop without having completed the necessary paperwork will result in the workshop not being certificated. If you have booked on using a voucher code then the course organiser will collate this information on your behalf and return to the IoS. You will not receive further confirmation from the IoS for this workshop after the automated booking email so please take note of the times and dates.

You will also find in this section the Aquatic Helper Learner Guide which you should familiarise yourself with before attending. Please ensure that you print this off and bring it with you on the day. 

Adult volunteers wishing to help on poolside can access the Aquatic Helper Workshop: volunteers aged 18+ must only book onto an adult only workshop (this will be indicated in the title). Please contact the IoS or the workshop organiser for more information.


Course dates:

Friday 26th January 2018  6.00pm to 9.00pm (all learners to attend)

Tutor will split learners into two groups after the 1st session and they will take place on

Sunday 28th January 2018   4.00pm to 7.00pm

Sunday 4 February 2018   4.00pm to 7.00pm


The Aquatic Helper workshop is designed for young people who have an aquatic background or an interest in aquatics who would like to assist on poolside at their club or during swimming lessons. It is an ideal opportunity for young people who are undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh award and those who wish to pursue a career in aquatics and complete ASA qualifications in the future. 

The interactive workshop provides and overview of the basic skills and knowledge young leaders or volunteers require when helping on poolside.

Please ensure you download the learner guide and take a copy along with you to the workshop. This will only become available to download after you have booked your place on the workshop.

The workshop is free of charge to all learners.


There is no formal assessment but there will be checks on learning.
