You must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the course.

Learners must hold an ASA Level 1 Award (QCF) in Coaching Swimming, Swim England Swimming Assistant (Coaching) or equivalent. 

Additional Important Information:

You must be at least 18 years of age

You should have a good level of English verbal and written communication skills

You will need to have coached in the last 3 months on a regular basis

You must be linked to a swimming club with access to 3 sessions per week for off course assessment 

You must have access to swimmers that sit within 2 different stages of the ADSP (Athlete Development Support Pathway) i.e training to train and above over the course of a 6 week mesocycle

You should work with a coaching assistant

You must have knowledge and experience of current coaching best practices

You must have access to a computer or tablet to complete the online learning elements of the course

This course follows a blended learning approach where you will undertake the core units of the qualification via e-Learning. You will be granted access to the e-Learning core units workspace, hosted by our partner system PebblePad - an industry leading e-Portfolio system, from 18th January 2019 or before. All learners will recieve further instruction on 18th January 2019 on how to access and begin completing their e-Learning assessments.

You will be given until 15th February 2019 to complete your e-learning (this includes any referrals). We recommend you complete the e-learning 2 weeks prior to the face to face dates. You will receive further instructions on how to gain access to the e-learning on the 18th January 2019.

Building on the knowledge and skills developed as an assistant coach the Swim England Swimming Coach course focuses on the planning, delivery and evaluation of coaching sessions.
The certificate aims to provide and equip you, with the skills, knowledge, tools and techniques to effectively plan, prepare, deliver, monitor and evaluate swimming coaching sessions
This certificate is endorsed by Swim England. All Coaching Certificates are awarded electronically, via an ecertificate and through a third party organisation; who are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and are accredited to both ISO 9001 (Quality Standard) and ISO 27001 (Information Security). If you require a hard copy of your certificate you can apply for this following receipt of your ecertificate.

Blended learning uses a combination of delivery methods to help you through your course. You need to have completed all of your e-Learning prior to attending the face to face days. By registering onto this course you are agreeing to undertake elements of the course prior to the face to face days. The guided learning hours for the online learning and completion of assessments are approximately 20 - 25 hours.

Assessment will take place both on and off course. On course assessment includes questions, session plans, evaluation, skill and stroke analysis, mycro-cycle planning.

There is a requirement for off course assessment which will include all of these methods but for a specific group of swimmers that you coach in your own environment.

Further study
If you are successful in obtaining this certificate, you are eligible to seek coaching roles through employment or volunteering opportunities. You should look to develop your learning and knowledge of this discipline by working with other, more senior qualified, experienced, licensed coaches.
