Course content

RPL is a route you can take to gain a coaching certificate if you already possess the skills and knowledge needed. This means that you don’t need any tutor support, mentoring, delivery or learning resources. You will need to provide relevant and sufficient evidence against the criteria laid out in the coaching certificates specification.

This process can prove to be time consuming as you will need to familiarise yourself with the specification and then map your evidence against it. This then needs to be uploaded onto our online assessment platform, PebblePad.

Those who decide to join RPL are given 4 weeks to gather their evidence and upload it to their workspace. There are also questions on-line which are required to be answered. There is no guarantee that the full certificate will be gained through RPL. Individuals will still need to provide evidence that meets the required Swim England standards. If the required standard is not met alternative options will be suggested which may have costs attached.

Eligibility

Anyone who would like be assessed by RPL for Swimming Assistant (Coaching) only, providing the pre-requisites are met, can book straight onto the programme:

RPL - Swim England Swimming Assistant (Coaching)

Anyone who would like to be considered for Swimming Coach or the combined Swimming Assistant (Coaching) and Swimming Coach Certificates must complete an initial assessment to ensure suitability for the programme:

RPL Initial Assessment - Swim England Swimming Coach

You will be given two weeks to complete the initial assessment and send it back to the IoS.
